Beekers Berries
Beekers Berries in the Netherlands are extraordinary growers of berries and soft fruit. They are the source of some of our more unusual lines such as strasberries, pineberries and whiteberries. Plus, of course, their excellent strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, redcurrants and whitecurrants.
The company operates their own glasshouses and polytunnels and also contracts a network of growers around the world that cultivate on their behalf. In a typical year they might produce 1,450,000 kilos of strawberries on their own site and employ around 300 people during the high point of the season.
Beekers use innovative techniques to extend the season. For example, strawberry plants are frozen and introduced into their planting schedules later in the year - tricking the plants to believe it is spring.
