MARKET REPORT FOR JULY 2023

Stone fruit includes nectarines and peaches from Corsica. From the French mainland, yellow and white peaches, apricots, yellow and blood nectarines, apricots, flat peaches and vanillacots, which have a short season. We also have red flesh plums.

Lovely green figs from Italy. Black from Spain also available. Fig leaf also on hand.

English cherries are underway. We are also supplying French.

English berries include gooseberries, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries. From France, we are bringing in Mara de Bois and wild strawberries.

Melons include black skin seedless and yellow flesh watermelons. Charentais melons are now eating well.

Scottish girolles start early this month.

The asparagus and elderflower season is now over.

Pears are tricky as we are in between seasons. Chipping Potatoes in very short supply. This will continue to affect quality and price. New crop expected late July. Smaller puds that are freely available include Cornish new, Jersey Royal's, Linzer French.

For beans - Borlotti, runners, broad, Coco White and yellow. Fantastic courgettes such as Trombetta, Romanesco, round (yellow and green), yellow and courgette flowers.

English peas are sensational. Artichokes include UK-grown Globe.

Salad crops include Batavia, Escarole, Friseline, Lollo, Oak, Biondie, red French chicory (beautiful!), rocket, Mustard frills/leaf, Bulls blood, Mesulin. We have UK baby leaf and land cress from Betts; watercress from Kingfisher. Radishes include breakfast and heritage. We are still sourcing those baby round mooli.

Brassicas include spring greens, English Hispi and black cabbage.

Tomato varieties are from UK and France. Varieties include Vesuvius, San Marzano, Blue Raf, Coeur de Boeuf, Datterino red/yellow, Noire de Crimee, Pineapple and Zebra/tiger.
