MARKET REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER 2023

English apples are hitting their stride. French fruit from Mouneyrac and Vassout will be here soon. We have had some beautiful fresh hops as a special order.

Anything with a stone is coming to an end - apart from plums. (Apricots, peaches, nectarines etc. are still available but are beginning to be past their best.)

UK sweetcorn is great value. Brassicas such as Romanesco are beautiful right now. We have even seen the first Brussel sprouts!

Lovely heritage carrots. Squashes are underway, including the organic fruit from Bedlam Farms.

Cobnuts are green and high quality. Scottish chanterelles are around this month for something special. Cep will begin once the weather starts to cool.

Damsons and sloes are in season. Turkish figs from Bursa have now started but we are working French black figs and Italian green.

All the roots are incoming - such as chervil root and parsley root.

At the end of the month, we should see the edge of the citrus season.
